Angler (previously Fisherman) is one of the seven available jobs on Vulengate. It focuses around catching fish.
It's one of the best jobs for new players as the entry requirements for it are almost non-existent, just requiring a fishing rod to begin working. Upgrades such as a crate rod and higher fishing mcMMO can help high level Anglers make tons of money very quickly. Fishing during Fishing Contests is an optimal grinding set-up for this job as it eliminates the mcMMO junk catches from appearing for the duration of the contest.
Players who reach level 200 in the Angler job are given a commemorative [Angler] Tag for the accomplishment.
All job information is shown at level 1. The increase of income is by 0.1% of its value every level until level 200.

Any crate fishing rod with Lure III or above is a good first step into grinding Angler job. The Wild Rod from the Wild Crate is easily obtainable on most colors and is a fantastic starter rod.
Eventually, when enough money is saved up, players looking to grind Angler should look into purchasing a Lure IV crate rod. These are available through the Galactic, Ancient Greece, Festive, Pirate, Retro, Fall, 2022 Anniversary, and Monster Crates and will make a noticeable difference in fish catch rates when one is being used.
The absolute best fishing rod on the server is the Animal Lure from the Zoo Crate. The item is won is Carrot on a Stick form, however by lowering its durability through pig riding the carrot will eventually drop and the item becomes a vanilla fishing rod with Lure V.
Past a certain mcMMO fishing level (starting around 1000 usually and worsening as time goes on), Lure IV crate rods begin to malfunction and perform worse than their Lure III counterparts while being used in the main hand. The easiest fix for this is to swap to fishing with Lure IV+ rods in the offhand slot to prevent a decrease in catch rate.
Biome selection is the most important part of grinding Angler job. It's a fairly straightforward job, and therefore the meta for it is relatively simple compared to other jobs. It's all about increasing fish catch rate. Warm or deep ocean biomes provide the biggest increase to natural fish rates so these are the biomes players grinding will want to stay in.
Certain weather conditions such as rain, storm and thunderstorm will also affect the fish catch rate. If the correct biome is paired with these weather effects the fish rate multiplier increases quickly.
A crate rod with Luck of the Sea V can be useful for Angler job when fishing outside of Fishing Contests, as it increases the likelihood of catching treasure items such as netherite armor and tools. The Loch Ness Lure from Monster Crate is the ideal tool for this method.
By far the most popular method of grinding Angler job is participating in Fishing Contests. The vanilla Minecraft fish catch rates are adjusted during these to favor higher paying fish, and the mcMMO fishing junk drops are disabled during them too, allowing for a consistent source of high income and experience. Angler can also catch the high paying custom head fish during these contests.
