Fishing Contests are potential hourly fishing events. They occur at the beginning of each hour, so long as at least 5 players are online and last for a duration of 10 minutes.
Competing in fishing contests can be done from anywhere, simply fishing during them will let players catch special fish and compete with others for leaderboard spots. The fish caught in these contests can either be kept as collectibles or sold using /emf shop for extra money. After the 10 minute duration the player who caught the largest fish will be announced the winner.

There are five rarities of fish that can appear during fishing contests, Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary and Ancient.
Certain Fishing Contest fish are notable for giving the player potion effects, having unique lore or dropping an item when captured. These fish can be found anywhere and can be caught during any contest.

As well as the usual fish that appear during Fishing Contests there are a number of Legendary fish that can only be caught when fishing in a specific biome. Many players make it a personal goal to catch every single one of these fish and they're often some of the most sought after for fish collections.

Due to world height, biome and mcMMO plugin changes that took effect after Minecraft 1.18, certain biome fish no longer exist and cannot be caught on the current version of the server. Existing versions of these fish still exist in collections as legacy items.

Starting from Love Crate, each Seasonal Crate has been accompanied by a limited time themed fish available through the Fishing Contest. These were originally just for collection purposes, but separate Ancient versions of these fish that drop their respective seasonal key were introduced from Farmer Crate onward.
